The Greenway - Sustrans winding path
On the trackbed from Long Marsden to Stratford, Sustrans have constructed a meandering cyclepath. At Milcote South the path winds from side to side making rail reinstatement more difficult.
Long Marsden - same again...
Milcote North another view of the 'long and winding road'.
As you can see there appears to have been no effort made to allow for rail reinstatement. Which is the better form of long distance all weather transport ? A reinstated railway or a cyclepath ? As you can see from when I took these pictures it wasn't exactly packed with cyclists !
If as they claim, they believe in public transport, perhaps they could explain why they made no effort to allow for rail reinstatement despite plans being published in Railtrack's NMS 2000.
You could be forgiven for thinking they didn't want to see a railway put back. They could easily have built the path on one side of the formation and left the ballast. Unfortunately they didn't !
Lets hope they aren't given permission to do the same from Broadway to Honeybourne !
