Laverton Continuing North
Looking back south towards Laverton the trackbed resembles a field ! I've been informed by our
chairman that the trackbed was used for a short time as a horse gallop - matting was put down and the ballast removed. Hence the appearance.
An old broad gauge rail probably used as a fence post is hidden away in the undergrowth.
This was one of the reasons why the railway went south first. The bridge is missing ! Transco removed it to get access for their lorries. They will be putting it back for us before we extend northwards.
Laverton halt was to the left of the bridge. (Thanks to Frederick Lea for the information).
Looking north from 'Wormington' bridge the trackbed continues on an embankment. Looks like a bit of the bridge in the foreground.
A little further north this is the bridge over the road to Aston Somerville. Note the gauge on the side - its to indicate depth when the road floods. The dip in the road must have caused some to come to grief in the past.
